Social Movement Timelines
Op-Ed:
Writing an op-ed and making a slide deck was the first part of the Social Movements in Context Project. While learning how to create influential slide decks and write op-eds we were able to learn more about how modern social movements share their messages with a wider audience and how opinion's can be backed by research and facts. I chose to research and write about wolf reintroduction in Colorado and the importance of wolves across the United States. Should Our Fear Decide a Wolf's Life?

To fully understand the purpose and impact of a social movement we must look at the history. A social movement is born in the injustice of society made by people wanting to correct injustice through social change. When looking through history it is important to look at the events and people that pushed these movements forward. Looking at those things can help us see the importance of the societal changes the movement caused. Our timelines show the major steps these movements have taken to change society for the better over the decades. With great social movements being persevered for centuries after their successes. With our timelines chronicling the important events that shaped the modern social movement throughout its lifetime, including both the successes and failures. With major events laid out, it is easier to see the historical context and importance each event had in the modern social movement's progress. Helping us understand why every event happened, allowing us to see even the little impacts that each event had on our society.
