Meanings:
My self-portrait represents two main concepts, one was conscious, and the other I noticed after the art piece was completed. The conscious symbolism was me sitting in a fantasy world, where all the colors are bright. I love fantasy, nature, and nature magic, the portrait represents me escaping into a my imagination, and also depicts my love of adventure. The unconscious concept I included was my face being half-covered, which seems to be a nod to these crazy times of Covid and mask-wearing. |

For this Project we were asked to create a political comic about a problem in society, the comics could be comical, Ironic, or serious. I decided to base my comic on people being hypocrites when it comes to saving the environment. I started out with a brain storm, the I started my first draft. I originally wanted multiple speaking characters , and the first draft had a lot more words than the final draft. I then worked on two more physical drafts, each time I just cut out the buss running over the different things a pasted it on a new piece of paper because I liked the original drawing so much. after the critique the main piece of feedback I got was to add color and make it more organized, so on my 4th draft, which was digital, I played with colors and added symbols. But I didn't like the way that one looked, so I added colors to the physically copy, then brightened the image and added text and a border with a new digital copy.

Meaning:
This topic really stood out to me because I experience it nearly every where I go, from politicians, to parents, to peers. My biggest pet peeve is people being hypocrites in general, but it really makes me mad and sad when I see people saying one thing and doing another when it comes to climate change and helping the environment.
In the first square I portray a person saying one thing and doing the complete opposite, then I show their actions(as the bus) hurting every thing they care about, family, friends, life styles, and the planet. I hope that this comic will get a few people thinking about their actions and maybe inspire them to change. |

The first thing I did to get inspiration for this project was to look at random questions that the teachers had previously answered about themselves, while going through the responses I began to formulate a beach scene from the movie cast away but with Dave Farkas's face on Chuck Noland's (Tom Hanks) body. The beach already had the words "help me" written on it, so all I had to do was add the water to the bottom to make it look like an island. And I found pictures of Wilson the volley ball and Tom Hanks to put on the beach, It took a lot of trial and error to blend Farkas's face correctly but eventually I got there. After I typed my name in the sand I thought I was finished, but the back ground seemed empty. So I began to add things that represented Farkas, he tells many alien stories, so the UFO came to fruition, and his spirit animal is a red tailed hawk, thus I added a couple of them here and there in the picture. lastly, I went back and did final refinements (erasing, blending, darkening, etc..) and I was satisfied.

Comparatively my photoshop skills have greatly increased from the beginning of the year to now, I actually amaze myself with how much I can do in Adobe Photoshop now. I am completely satisfied with the final product, it's fun and comical and still tells a story, depending on how you interpret it of course. The only thing that I would change if I could would be to blend the flying red-tailed hawk and the UFO in to the back ground more to make it look farther away, and to some how fit more of Farkas's original face on the body. But otherwise I really love what I have done.
